Saluting Faith Hill Renewal

Located in the southeast corner of Owsley County, Faith Hill Community Center is managed by a non-profit organization consisting of former residents, descendants of original members of the church and current residents of Owsley County.  With the goal of restoring the church and adjoining buildings to their former glory and function.  The Faith Hill Community Inc., was organized in the 1990s.

Consisting of a log church, parsonage and additional  buildings, Faith Hill began life in the 1930s as a Presbyterian complex under the direction of Rev. and Mrs. Chester Ranck. The Rancks shown here with Mrs. Rancks' mother

and their sweet little son who got to go before them to announce their arrival in heaven.

Have you ever seen anything as beautiful as this?

Constructed of native timber by local residents of the era, the church is a testament to the skills of bygone generations and the devotion they shared to their faith.  During the decades since the church was constructed the community underwent tremendous change.  Population dwindled in the small, remote community.  The once well attended church began to show signs of decay and decline.  Today, it is no longer a Presbyterian facility.  It is a multi-denominational facility providing space for funerals, weddings, and social gatherings.

In 1991, restoration efforts began with the replacement of rotted logs.  A new roof was donated by the Baker family.  Former residents came from far and near to assist in the effort.  Long days of hard work assured the preservation of history.  Old friends and family members runited in this ardent, expensive and time consuming effort.  Restoration of the church and adjoining buildings is a work in progress.

The Mission Statement of the Faith Hill Community Inc.

"To Maintain the properties for the use of former, current and future members of Upper Buffalo and surrounding communities and their descendants for Religious, Educational, and Social Events.  To Maintain the facility for use by an charity organization that has the main purpose of providing services to the population of Upper Buffalo and Owsley County as a Whole"

Remember your roots and renew your spirit by taking a trip to see this beautiful Owsley County landmark.  If  you can donate to this endeavor and work of love we need your help and your contributions are tax deductible. Please send to:
