The deposition of David Cook of lawful age taken on 17 April 1809 to perpetuate testamony as to the special calls of an Entry of 1500 A founded on part of a Treasury Warrant #7377 Beginning on the south fork of Kentucky below a Buffalo Lick in Clay co. Land was Entered 14 Dec 1781 and made in name of Edward Fri?? and Patented in name of Jonathan Forbis 13 June 1800. Also to establish boundaries on a Survey made on said Entry Commissioners Abner Baker, John Bates, Beverly Broaddus were named. They attended on the land with David Cook and John Cook and others 17 Apr 1809 and took depositinn: That the lick shown to the Commissioners was the Buffalo Lick called for in the Entry. Question by the Commissioners: What was the water course called in the year 1780 - 1781? Answer by Deponant: It was generally known and called at that time the South Fork of Kentucky. | 28 Jun 1806 | John Crook of Madison co Ky AND John Amis of Knox co Ky Tr: Article of Agreement - Goose Creek Salt Works Desc: Crook binds himself to make title to Amis to one fourth part of a tract of land containing 375 A which includes the Goose Creek Salt Works (securing to John White the one half of said Crook's buildings and one half of his garden). In consideration of which Amis pays $2500 - one half in cash and one half in good saleable salt at $2 per bushel. Crook will defend title against claims of 50,000 A Entered in names of Philip and James Moore and John Donaldson; and Patented in the name of Benjamin Wynkoop, part of which is now claimed by James Dardis, Smith, Calhoun etc. And further Crook gives to Amis one fourth of his claim to a claim of 7000 A (except the place where Daniel McCollum now lives.)
