This indenture made this 10th day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen between Cornelius Bowman, Sr. and Cornelius Bowman, Jr. and Elizabeth Bowman his wife of the county of Madison and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part and Phillip Goodman of the county of Madison and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the other part, witnesseth, that the said Cornelius Bowman Sr. and Cornelius Bowman, Jr. and Elizabeth Bowman his wife for and in consideration of six hundred and forty dollars to them in hand paid before the sealing and deliverings of these presents and giving a good sufficient bond to pay unto them at on or before the 15th day of January next ensuing without fraud or delay three hundred and eight five dollars both granted bargained and sold unto the said Phillip Goodman and his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing two hundred and five acres situate lying and being in the county of Madison and State of Kentucky being the southeast corner of Robert Flemings preemption on Kings Branch of Muddy Creek and bounded as followeth (to wit) beginning at a hickory stump standing near a line of Flemings Preemtion the south side thence north 13 west 189 poles to a dogwood corner to John Williams thence south 73 west 73 poles to a hickory and small ash to line of Talton Mabry thence south 20 poles to a hickory and three black oaks corner to said Embry thence west 138 poles to three hickories the west corner of Flemings preemption settlement thence south 150 poles to two hickories standing in the road thence east 251 poles to the beginning. With all and singular the rights and privileges or appertenances to the same belonging or in anywise pertaining to him the said Phillip Goodman his heir and assigns as a clear undefeasible estate in fee-simple absolute to all intents and purposes as can be held or enjoyed by the said Phillip Goodman and we Cornelius Bowman, Sr. and Cornelius Bowman, Jr. and Elizabeth Bowman for ourselves and our heirs doth further covenant and agree to and with the said Phillip Goodman, that we will warrant and forever defend the legal right and title in and to the said land against all lawful claim of all manners of persons whatsoever to the only proper use and behalf of him the said, Phillip Goodman his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof the said Cornelius Bowman, Sr. and Cornelius Bowman, Jr. and Elizabeth Bowman both here unto set their hand and seals this day and date above written.

I William Irvine clerk of the court for the county aforesaid do hereby certify that this indenture was produced to me on the 10th day of August 1813 which was acknowledged by Cornelius Bowman Sr., and Cornelius Bowman Jr., and Elizabeth Bowman to their act and deed and having privately examined her the said Elizabeth as the law directs she relinquishes her right and title to the within mentioned tract of land and the same has been duly recorded in my office
