The Last Will and Testament of Lewis Sandlin Decd.

Whereas the life of man is uncertain in duration and I Lewis Sandlin of the County of Clay being weak and feeble in body but of sound mind and disposing memory do herby make this my last will and testament revoking all others herefore made. I give my soul to God who gave it and my body I wished it consigned to the mother earth by decent burial.  I wish all my just debts to be paid out of my estate For and in consideration of the gift of the tract of land on which I now live and the execution of a deed of gift of same to my two sons, Ezekiel Sandlin and John  Sandlin, conveying same to them to take effect after the death of my beloved wife, Sally,; and Acknowledgement of same for record and  also for my love and affection for my wife Sally, it is my will and sincere desire that she shall live on said farm and enjoy the Same during her natural life and after that life terminates it is my will that said land Shall pass to my said sons, John and Ezekiel, to them and their heirs forever,   According to said gift,  but in the carrying out of this device I wish my son John, to Live on the land and take care of his mother and maintain her in a decent and Affectionate manner during her life and by so doing enjoy the benefits of said farm For her decent and comfortable support and his affectionate care.  It is further my will   Sally have my household and kitchen furniture absolutely. 

It is further my will and desire that the balance of my estate shall be equally divided amongst my children, John Sandlin, Ezekiel Sandlin and Kennedy Sandlin excepted, the exception is made for the reason that I have advanced them more than equal portion of my estate. It is further my will and desire that my son Ezekiel Sandlin and my son Kennedy Sandlin and my friend Samuel Ensworth shall act as my exexutors to this my last will And Testament. In witness whereof, I do set my hand this 14 day of June 1853.;Lewis Sandlin

Signed sealed and delivered in presence of us Witness Samuel Ensworth Isaac Stewart John Mayo A writing purporting to be the last Will and Testament of Lewis Sandlin, Decd, was this day produced in court and proved by the oath of Isaac Stewart and John Mayo subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded – Given under my hand this the 6 day of June 1854 Wm. Woodcock, Clk.
